Hoosic Valley Central School District
The New York State Department of Education and the Board of Regents have recently issued a memo and proposed new regulation that will prohibit the use of Indigenous names, mascots, and logos by public schools in New York. Due to this forthcoming regulation, our School District and School Board has begun the process to get feedback from the community and our students in order to formulate a plan. The issues surrounding this change were discussed at the December 1, 2022 School Board Meeting and again at a community forum held on January 9, 2023.
