COVID Weekly Update 1-24

COVID Weekly Update
Posted on 01/24/2021

The Hoosic Valley Central School District had two members of our school community test positive for COVID-19 this week. They were isolated and will not return to the school until released by the Department of Health. If you or your student was directly affected by any of these cases you received a personal phone call and an email.

There were two cases at the High School. One of the cases was remote and since they were not in the school it did not impact our inperson students or staff. For the positive case that was in school this week, contact tracing was conducted in conjunction with the Rensselaer County Department of Health and any close contacts were placed in quarantine.

The health and safety of the students, teachers and staff in our school community remains our top priority.

By continuing to practice social distancing, proper mask-wearing, handwashing and disinfecting both in school and in the larger community, we will continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic together.

Please encourage your student to continue to practice social distancing and mask-wearing outside of school any time they are in a public setting or visiting with friends.

All students and employees must continue to:

  • Monitor for any symptoms.
  • Practice frequent hand washing.
  • Wear a face mask while in school, at school events or after-school activities, in public, or in close proximity to another individual.

If your student develops symptoms, takes a COVID test, or tests positive, please contact Michelle Przedwiecki, MPH, the COVID Coordinator at 753-4458 x2112 or [email protected].

Please note that privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot and will not identify anyone who has tested positive.

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of continuing to be conscientious and careful outside of the school to ensure your student’s health and safety.

We continue to work closely with the Rensselaer County Department of Health and follow their guidance. Thank you all for your cooperation during this uncertain time.
