The Hoosic Valley School Garden needs a new coordinator…or 2! This volunteer position is a great opportunity for either an individual or a team to work together to manage the thriving school garden & insure its continuation. The new person could work alongside the current coordinator throughout this growing season to learn the progression of tasks that begin in late winter.
Tasks throughout the growing season:
- Work with a faculty member who solicits interest from teachers & grade-levels
- Prepare raised beds for planting (or recruits volunteers for this)
- Allocates space for each group to plant.
- Helps teachers/grade-levels make planting choices, as needed
- Purchase seeds & seedlings
- Coordinates outside instructors, as needed.
- Recruit community volunteers for summer garden upkeep (via social media/sign-up program)
- Coordinates Schaghticoke Fair entries
- Updates social media
