We received a memo from the New York State Department of Education regarding the use of Native American Mascots. There has been a long-standing directive from the State Education Department for schools to discontinue the use of Native American mascots, team names, logos, and imagery. This new directive references a recent court case and the possible loss of State Aid for not complying by the end of the 2022-23 school year. Our administrative team will analyze the directive and consult with other school districts so we can have an open and informed discussion with our Board of Education at our December 1st Board Meeting.
