PARENT-DROP OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES
Grades K-6 Drop-Off: Due to COVID required screening of student temperatures, there are new procedures for parent drop-off this year. Drop off begins at 8:15 am daily.
Parents dropping their children off at school should turn onto Pleasant Avenue and quickly bear right to enter the HS bus loop. Cars will be staged there until 8:15 am when they will be released to drive across Pleasant Ave. to enter the Elementary School bus loop. Parents will be directed to pull up to the curb where students will exit cars and enter the building either through the auditorium entrance, (for students in grades 3-6), or the main entrance, (for students in grades K-2).
Staff will be present just inside the doors to take student temperatures. Following a confirmation that the child’s temperature is below 100 degrees, the child will proceed to their homeroom.
If the student’s temperature is recorded as above 100 degrees, they will be checked a second time. If the temperature is confirmed to be above 100 degrees, the child will be directed to Mrs. Ellett’s quarantine room and parents will be called to return to school and pick up their child.
Mrs. Ellett will follow-up with parents when they pick up children about requirements after a child is determined to be sick at school.
Other Faculty and a Staff will be stationed along the sidewalks and hallways at the start of each day to assure that students exiting vehicles safely make their way along the sidewalk to the school entrance, and use appropriate social distancing as they travel through the hallways.
Grades K-6 Pick-Up: Dismissal is at 2:44 pm. Buses will arrive around 2:44 pm and parent pick -up will begin at 3:00 pm. Parents should again drive via Pleasant Ave. and bear right into the HS bus loop, where cars will be staged until buses leave. Cars will then be released to cross Pleasant Ave and travel to the Elementary School bus loop, where parents will be asked to park and enter the Auditorium entrance to sign our your child.
Students who are being picked up will report to the auditorium at dismissal, and will be summoned as parents arrive to pick-up. Parents should expect to bring, and produce an ID if asked. Parents who have previously signe children out of school and have previously presented ID, will not need to have their ID’s scanned again. Parents, please remember to use social distancing when waiting in line to pick up your child. That means staying six feet apart from others waiting in line and wearing a mask at all times.
Pre-K Drop-Off: All parents must arrange for transportation to and from the program daily. Those bringing students to school will be asked to proceed to the Elementary bus loop, park at the curb, and walk your child to the UPK entrance at the end of the sidewalk past the cafeteria. Student sign-ins will run from 7:45 am - 8:00 am daily.
Pre-K Pick-Up: Parents picking up UPK students at 1:00 pm may drive directly into the Elementary School bus loop, and park. They should proceed to the Drop-Off spot where staff will be there to release students to parents. Parents are expected to be at school or have a designated person to pick up their child at 1:00 pm.
