1. Improving Family Communication (for parents/caregivers)
Wednesday, April 10th 1 – 2PM at 31 Walter, St. Albany (Lunch is provided thanks to our partner St. Catherine’s Center for Children!)
Developing healthy, trusting communication can be a challenge for any family. Join this program to discuss positive communication strategies that help kids open-up and reduce family conflict. Learn strategies and practical ways to develop stronger family connections.

2. Strengthening Families Program (for parents/caregivers to attend WITH youth grades 5 – 8)
Thursday, May 16th 5:30 – 7:30PM at the Guilderland Public Library, 2228 Western Ave. Guilderland (Dinner is provided!)
Youth in grades 5 – 8 with their parent(s)/caregiver(s) are invited to attend the Strengthening Families Program. This fun, interactive program empowers families. We celebrate family strengths, support youth, parents/caregivers, and help improve family communication skills.
Participating families enjoy dinner together, and then first meet in separate groups. Working with 4H Youth Educators, youth create vision boards to explore interests and future goals. Parents/caregivers meet with an Extension Human Ecology Educator to discuss strategies that improve family communication and help kids better manage screentime and social media use. Families come back together to discuss the vision boards and participate in a family ‘When You Were My Age’ activity (and enjoy dessert!).
