We are so excited to begin our PARP (Pick A Reading Partner) program for the 2022-2023 school year. Our theme is “Wild About Reading'' and will run from March 3 - April 2. Students will be amazed as our school transforms into a jungle, that will help to foster a deeper love for reading. We ask that your child picks a special reading partner to read with, for at least 15 minutes a night, at least 5 nights/week. This can be a parent, grandparent, sibling, babysitter, pet, or even a special stuffed animal. Please have your child log the minutes read for each day on the special reading calendar going home on March 3rd. Make sure that your child returns it to his/her teacher each Monday to get credit for reading. Each week a child completes the required reading minutes, their name will be entered into raffles for many cool prizes!
Once again, we are partnering with the Read for Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. The Ronald McDonald House is a set of houses in Albany that help families of children who are sick and in treatment at one of our local hospitals. Students are invited to join the Read for Ronald McDonald House Program, giving them the opportunity to volunteer their time to support the families at the Ronald McDonald House. Students are able to use their reading to earn donations for the Ronald McDonald House. Simply follow the steps in the Read for Ronald McDoanld House packet to collect sponsors for reading. Read for Ronald McDonald House packets are attached and reading for the program begins MARCH 6th! Our HV PTO will earn 10% of what is raised for RMHC. We encourage all students to participate in this wonderful program and experience the power of helping others. You will find a list of links to the Read for RMHC videos and paperwork on our school website. Please take a look and learn about this special program!
