Behavioral Skills Training Program Spring 2021

Behavioral Skills Training Program for Parents of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Posted on 03/22/2021

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University at Albany is now offering a virtual group-format parent training program for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder.

The goal of the program is to help parents learn behavioral techniques to reduce their children’s challenging behaviors in the home, such as tantrums, noncompliance, difficulties with transitions, and aggression. The techniques that will be taught are based on an evidence-based intervention developed by the RUBI Autism Network (Bearss et al., 2018).

The program will take place over the course of 11 weeks, starting in Spring 2021. Sessions will be 60 to 90 minutes in length. Because the program will be offered virtually, you can participate from the convenience of your own home!

Program Eligibility Requirements:

Participants must be:

  • Eligible for OPWDD services and Family Support Services
  • A parent/caregiver of a child with autism spectrum disorder age 3-12
  • Motivated to learn skills for addressing challenging behaviors in the home
  • Willing to complete pre- and post-assessments
Able to join the sessions with video and audio
