A message from District Superintendent, G. Michael Apostol

Soledad “Sully” Curtis passed away on Wednesday January 13, 2021. Ms. Curtis worked for the Hoosic Valley Central School District for twenty-two years as a member of our non-instructional staff.

When anybody had the fortunate experience to run into “Sully” their day instantly became better. Her infectious smile, her voice full of joy and her love for the Hoosic Valley students were her patented trademarks.

“Sully” was a model for what the Hoosic Valley School Community is all about. She was there for those students who needed a helping hand. She was there for teachers who needed some uplifting after having some difficulties. She was there for new teachers, helping them navigate the difficult terrain of any school.

To see “Sully” at a basketball game or any sporting event cheering on our students was a sight to behold. You would see her jumping up and down, yelling encouragement to our students and along with the rest of us, would experience the joy of victory and the agony of defeat.

Oh “Sully”, we will miss you. If I could paraphrase Vince Scully, the longtime Los Angeles Dodger announcer, I will not cry because you are gone but I will smile because I knew you.

God bless “Sully”, rest in peace.
