“Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma.”
School Resource Officer, Deputy Manny, visited Mr. Viggiano's health classes to provide Stop the Bleed training. Stop the Bleed gives our students life saving skills in emergency situations where critical injuries are causing a large loss of blood. Students were taught the primary response to trauma care - it's as easy as ABC.
A: Alert - call 911
B: Bleeding - find the injury
C: Compress - pressure, packing or tourniquet
Students were taught how to apply the tourniquets and given the opportunity to try them out. Thanks to SRO Manny for sharing his expertise with our students.
