With the increase in stress and anxiety in our world, teachers need to address the on-going social-emotional needs of students. It is critical to prepare each student for their best academic growth and in preparing them to become healthy citizens.

This fall, we took another step in addressing the social emotional needs of our students. Our elementary faculty and staff participated in a Book Club using the book, Power of Our Words, by Responsive Classroom.

Teachers studied the use of language and tone that best enables students to become regulators of their own behavior. We are working to create a school climate that uses more positive and respectful language to promote positive student behavior and self-awareness.

A special thank you goes to Sandy Fancher for leading the book club.  It is crucial that we give our staff time to be  students and expand their skills that have a direct improvement in the classroom.  Teachers truly are life long learners.
