Watch Out! Watch Out! Watch Out!

Mr. Paul Hurteau, an Artist-in-Residence, worked with the second grade classes for three days in June. Mr. Hurteau had worked in the Amazon Rain Forest in Brazil for several years and has a wealth of experience to share with the students to further their understanding of the animals and the habitat. He taught the students to count to 10 in the native language of the region and showed pictures of the children and families that live in the rainforest. After each class had researched information on the animals, Mr. Hurteau helped the students create an original poem about their animal using poetry strategies. Once complete, each class created movements for their animal, made masks and prepare a performance for the First Grade classes and second grade parents to enjoy. It was enjoyed by all.
