Pick Paper not Plastic

Pick Paper not Plastic!

Hoosic Valley Elementary School is participating in the 26th annual Earth Day Groceries Project! During STEAM class the students at our school have decorated paper grocery bags with environmental messages. During the week of Earth Day (April 22) these bags will be passed out to shoppers at our local Shop n’ Save grocery store. All you need to do is ask for a paper bag instead of plastic!

Besides carrying an environmental message, each bag will have some wonderful artwork. The people in our neighborhood will get a very clear and positive message that the students at Hoosic Valley care about their environment.

This is the 26th year this international educational effort has been coordinated online! This is one of the largest and most well-established education projects on the Internet. It is a nonprofit, grassroots effort. The project started in 1994, with 43 schools reporting the decoration and distribution of 13,000 Earth Day Grocery Bags. In 1999, the number of schools reporting in reached nearly 1,200, with students decorating almost 400,000 Earth Day Grocery Bags!
We are pleased and proud to be a part of this effort in conjunction with Shop n’ Save!
