Vision Statement
Our educational technology vision is based on a foundation of producing life-long learners. The primary vision is for students and teachers to become comfortable, efficient, and responsible consumers of the technology that is currently available. It is just as important, if not more so, that teachers and students become self-motivated learners able to adapt to the dynamic new technologies that are becoming increasingly accessible.
The New York State Standards dictate curriculum, as well as the technology literacy the students need to have upon leaving elementary school and upon high school commencement. Teachers are expected to address these standards in their classrooms for the obvious benefit of students, themselves, and the community as a whole.
It is the goal of this department to assist both teachers and students, as we all seek to become better prepared to participate in today’s dynamic, technologically literate society.

Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA)
The Board of Education recognizes that student surveys are a valuable tool in determining student needs for educational services. In accordance with law and Board policy, parental consent is required for minors to take part in surveys which gather any of the following information:
- political affiliations or beliefs of the student or the student’s parent;
- mental or psychological problems of the student or the student’s family;
- sex behavior or attitudes;
- illegal, anti-social, self-incriminating or demeaning behavior;
- critical appraisals of other individuals with whom respondents have close family relationships;
- legally recognized privileged or analogous relationships, such as those of lawyers, physicians and ministers;
- religious practices, affiliations or beliefs of the student or the student’s parent; or
- income (other than that required by law to determine eligibility for participation in a program or for receiving financial assistance under such program).
