-*-DEADLINE PASSED-*-

Interested in running for the board?

Hoosic Valley Central School District is governed by a seven-member elected Board. Each board member serves on a volunteer basis. Members of Hoosic Valley’s Board of Education oversee the operations of the school district. They are elected by community residents for four-year terms and serve the district on a voluntary basis. You are eligible to run for a Board seat if you have resided in the district for at least one year prior to the vote, are at least 18 years of age and a United States citizen. Once elected, Board of Education members are required by New York State law to fulfill mandatory training within their first year of service. This training requires topics on the essentials of school board governance and a minimum of six hours in fiscal oversight, accountability, and fiduciary responsibilities of a school board member. Board of Education members are expected to attend all meetings (regular and budget workshops) and stay for executive sessions when necessary.
