A message from the District Superintendent, G. Michael Apostol,

Hoosic Valley Central School District is scheduled to receive one-time federal funding through the American Rescue Plan (ARP) and the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA).  The total amount to be received is approximately $2,912,999.   The ARP funds need to be spent between March 13, 2020 to September 30, 2024 and the CRRSAA funds between March 13, 2020 to September 30, 2023.

These federal programs entail a community engagement process. It is the goal of the district to provide everyone in our community an opportunity to give input on how to best use these funds to support students in our district and to address impacts that the pandemic has had on students, faculty and staff.

In the very near future, the district will post its plan for how the funds will be budgeted in a variety of areas, including but not limited to:

  • safely returning students to school in person
  • purchasing and utilizing educational technology
  • HVAC (ventilation and air filtration) updates
  • maximizing in-person instruction time
  • planning and implementing activities related to summer learning and supplemental afterschool programs
  • school facility repairs and improvements to enable operation of schools to reduce risk of virus transmission and exposure to environmental health hazards
  • addressing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on students, including the impacts of interrupted instruction and learning loss
  • implementing evidence-based strategies to meet students' social, emotional, mental health, & academic needs
  • offering evidence-based summer, afterschool, and other extended learning and enrichment programs

District administrators have begun to collaborate on a plan that is in the best interest of our student population but there is much more thoughtful planning to be done. We value your input as we work to maximize the funding provided in the best interest of our students' safety, social-emotional health and academic success.

The district has created a survey for parents/guardians, faculty/staff, and community members that will help to craft our plan to effectively allocate federal funds.

Please complete the survey by midnight on Monday, June 21st.

The survey can be accessed here:  HVCSD Federal Funds Survey

Thank you for your time and thoughts.
