The Pre-Kindergarten is a special program established by the State Education Department to provide an early learning experience for children age 4 of eligible families. Hoosic Valley has 2 classrooms, which run a full day, Monday through Friday, 5 hours each day for 180 days per school year.

Eligible students are defined as those living in the Hoosic Valley School District and who will turn 4 years old by December 1st of the current year. We will start collecting names for the 2021-2022 school year, March 1 through May 14, 2021. We will run a lottery in June with all the names collected between those dates. The lottery process consists of the Building Principal, Pre-K Teachers, and the Elementary Secretary randomly selecting the students for the program from the list of eligible students. All parents will be contacted via email whether or not they are chosen for the program. If you accept the program, registration papers will be mailed to you. In order to complete the registration process, we must have copies of the following:

  1. A copy of your child’s original birth certificate
  2. A completed signed/stamped record of up-to-date immunizations, and a physical dated within the last year.
  3. Two (2) Proofs of residency (Documentation showing your name & address. Ie. tax bill, bank statement, mortgage/lease agreement, utility bill etc.)

This program will be contingent upon continued funding from the New York State Education Department. Once funding is confirmed and the program approved by the HVCSD Board of Education, eligible students will be selected by the lottery drawing. Drawing date will be June 1, 2021. Students not selected via the lottery will be placed on a waitlist. All parents will be notified either way.

To sign up please call Cori Kinnicutt at 518-753-4458, ext 3506 starting March 1st.
