The Elementary School is on a path to creating a more positive learning environment that places value on social-emotional learning, as an approach to elevate academic learning. Bringing about this change in our school culture will take education, collaboration, practice, and reflection on the part of our administrators, teachers, staff and students.

On November 19th, eight elementary teachers , Mr. Foti, the Elementary School Principal, and the school counselor, Beth McQueeney, attended full-day, Introductory Workshops on Responsive Classroom in Waltham, MA. They came back excited about moving forward in bringing Responsive Classroom to our school. The next day, these teachers begin to try out some activities and practices they learned into their teaching and interactions with students.

Responsive Classroom practices and principles will be the foundation of our positive school culture change and the foundation of our Behavioral Framework. We are excited to formally receive training at our school for all teachers so that we can fully incorporate these principles and practices over time.
