A Visit from the Brookside

A Visit from the Brookside
Posted on 11/22/2019

The Brookside Museum paid a visit to our fourth graders today.  Anne Clothier, Education Director from the Brookside, shared her expertise on Native American artifacts and culture.  The fourth grade social studies curriculum focuses on New York State including the Americans native to this area.  Our students were able to view artifacts and handle replicas to get a better understanding of the day to day life and skill that area tribes needed to survive. This level of hands on learning is great to reinforcing the classroom lessons on the Northeastern Woodland Nations.

The Brookside Museum is a great local resource that many of grade levels use.  Sometimes our students go there and sometimes the Brookside Staff visit us.  You may have heard that they are in danger of closing (Ballston Spa's Brookside Museum threatened with closing, by the Daily Gazette).  Visit the Brookside’s website if you’d like to make a donation towards keeping the museum open for future Hoosic Valley students.
